The Arduino "Modular" Nixie Clock kit drives 6 IN-14, IN-8-2, Z573M or Z570M Nixie Tubes in a traditional "6 in a row" set up, and uses "Tube Holder" boards so that you can easily replace tubes without soldering. It's packed full of features, and at the end of the build you will have a beautiful Nixie Clock. The board is small (160mm x 50mm), and is an easy to build and is a tried and tested design, with many hundreds of units sold.
This kit is based on an Arduino (Atmel ATMega) micro controller. You don't need to own an Arduino to use this kit! It is self contained and runs without an external Arduino board.
The controller comes pre-programmed. You you can download, modify and upload the open source code if you wish.
There is also an on-board WiFi unit available, which connects to the Internet and keeps the time correct, and also takes care of Daylight Savings Time (DST) changes. This option requires a small amount of SMT (surface mount) solering. This option is included in the "WiFi" option.
This kit is ideal if you want to make an unusual or eye catching clock in a custom case.
Even better: The code is open source, with regular updates and new features.
Tubes are not included. You are able to find reliable, quick and cheap providers on Ebay. If you have a doubt, ask, and we will recommend someone.
The wall power supply is not included. You will need to get an external power supply (7.5VDC - 12VDC). Suitable mains wall power adapters are available on Ebay for around $3!
Tools, solder and some connecting wire is not included.
Full kit of parts: You get all of the electronic components on the PCB, as well as parts for mounting on the front panel of your case. You get a RTC (Real Time Clock) module so that the clock can remember the time and date even when turned off.
WiFi kit of parts: You get all of the electronic components on the PCB, as well as parts for mounting on the front panel of your case. You get a WiFi enabled time module which connects to your home WiFi network to retrieve the time. This module also allows you to configure the clock using a browser of a PC, tablet or phone. The clock stays accurate to 1 second, year after year, never needs adjusting, and changes automatically when there is a change in your Daylight Savings Time (DST).
PCB and controller: You get the main PCB and a pre-programmed controller. You will need to source all of the other parts, which are easily available from distributors or Ebay. We don't use very hard to find or special parts.
